A Comparative Study of SVM Classifiers and Artificial Neural Networks Application for Rolling Element Bearing Fault Diagnosis using Wavelet Transform Preprocessing

چکیده

Effectiveness of Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) and Support Vector Machines (SVM) classifiers for fault diagnosis of rolling element bearings are presented in this paper. The characteristic features of vibration signals of rotating driveline that was run in its normal condition and with faults introduced were used as input to ANN and SVM classifiers. Simple statistical features such as standard deviation, skewness, kurtosis etc. of the time-domain vibration signal segments along with peaks of the signal and peak of power spectral density (PSD) are used as features to input the ANN and SVM classifier. The effect of preprocessing of the vibration signal by Discreet Wavelet Transform (DWT) prior to feature extraction is also studied. It is shown from the experimental results that the performance of SVM classifier in identification of bearing condition is better then ANN and pre-processing of vibration signal by DWT enhances the effectiveness of both ANN and SVM classifier Keywords—ANN, Artificial Intelligence, Fault Diagnosis, Pattern Recognition, Rolling Element Bearing, SVM. AN INTELLIGENT FAULT DIAGNOSIS APPROACH FOR GEARS AND BEARINGS BASED ON WAVELET TRANSFORM AS A PREPROCESSOR AND ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORKS

In this paper, a fault diagnosis system based on discrete wavelet transform (DWT) and artificial neural networks (ANNs) is designed to diagnose different types of fault in gears and bearings. DWT is an advanced signal-processing technique for fault detection and identification. Five features of wavelet transform RMS, crest factor, kurtosis, standard deviation and skewness of discrete wavelet co...

Fault Diagnosis of Roller Bearing Using Dual-Tree Complex Wavelet Transform, Rough Set and Neural Network

In a complex field environment for modern mechanical equipment, how to identify all kinds of operational status of the rolling element bearings fastly and accurately is very important and necessary. A novel approach to automated diagnosis is introduced, which is based on feature extraction with the Dual-Tree Complex Wavelet Transform (DT-CWT), then attribute reduction with rough set theory and ...

Wavelet Analysis And Envelope Detection For Rolling Element Bearing Fault Diagnosis A Comparative Study

Envelope Detection (ED) is traditionally always used with Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) to identify the rolling element bearing faults. The inability of FFT to detect non-stationary signals makes Wavelet Analysis (WA) an alternative for machinery fault diagnosis as WA can detect both stationary and non-stationery signals. A comparative study of ED with FFT and WA techniques for bearing fault dia...
